Los Angeles and San Francisco Joint Olympic Bid

With Boston’s recent withdrawal as the U.S. Olympic nomination for 2024, all eyes have turned to a possible Los Angeles bid. Recent reports indicate LA representatives have reached out to San Francisco about the possibility of a joint bid.

While the Olympics have traditionally been hosted by one city, the potential upside of utilizing more than one city per country could be exactly the type of change the Olympics need.

Rio De Janeiro is currently feeling the heat due to water sanitation problems and is behind schedule with construction.

Few cities have the proper infrastructure to host the modern day Olympic Games, and the people who end up paying the price for this are the city’s taxpayers.

The chart below is mind boggling, in which it explains how far over budget each of the previous summer and winter hosts exceeded their allocated budget by.

A combination of Los Angeles and San Francisco would alleviate almost all infrastructure issues, considering all the stadiums and necessary venues already exist.

Would you support a joint bid between the two cities?
